The 16-19 Tuition Fund has been made available to providers to support the disruption to learning caused by COVID-19. Skills Training UK is committed to using this funding in line with the government guidance and our values to support young people who continue to be disadvantaged by the pandemic and its impact on their learning. The Tuition Fund gives additional support in English, Maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted.  Learners aged 16-19, on our Study Programme or Traineeship are eligible if they have not yet achieved a Grade 4 in GCSE English and/or Maths (or equivalent) or have achieved it but need catch-up support.

The funding is being used to support learning above that which is already planned as part of the learners’ usual timetable. It includes a mix of tutoring and additional learning support which is delivered face-to-face and remotely via Microsoft Teams. It supports groups of up to 5 students per session, who have a relevant English and/or Maths qualification in progress, structured by level. Sessions are taking place outside of normal timetabled hours which may include evenings and Saturdays. Staffing is a combination of internal staff, teaching assistants, external tutors, and intensive courses delivered by external providers. We are working with our Quality Department to ensure a robust monitoring and recording process is in place.
